Hughes Performance was founded in 1971 by Bill Hughes, Sr. Our humble beginnings started in a small shop with our sole focus on remanufacturing of OEM torque converters. Bill's son, Jim Hughes, took interest in the design and engineering of torque converters for racing purposes. Jim's involvement in the company took Hughes Performance to the next level, and resulted in a dynamic change within the company that quickly elevated Hughes Performance to the upper echelon of high performance and racing torque converter manufacturing. When the time came for Hughes to jump into the transmission side of the industry, Jeff Hughes stepped in to provide in-depth understanding of automatic transmission function as well as first-class machining abilit
